Receivers produced after 1905 possessing no “WP” evidence but have barrels with the “WP” and “Oval P” mark would reveal a mail purchase barrel.
I envision Winchester would of saved and preserved the barrel chamber reamers for all the assorted 271+ calibers that they generated. Along with loads of barrel blanks laying all-around. This is from a 1916 brochure from the manufacturing unit’s goings-on.

Towards the best of my know-how, in case you find a pre-1905 Winchester by using a “WP” proof about the barrel, but not about the receiver, somebody other than Winchester swapped the barrel.
